| "Cannot empty clipboard" error in Excel |
|
|
|
In Excel 2003 highlight an entire cell and
attempt to copy. Will result in an error "Cannot empty the Clipboard".
Entire cell must be highlighted not the contents. Note that this is a
manual operation, I'm not running any macros and MEP is in the tray. MEP
then became very unresponsive and entire system slowed down with no CPU
use much like we've seen elsewhere. Killed MEP process and system became
responsive but clipboard was still reporting error. This was on a
Windows 2003 machine in a TS (Terminal Services) remote session so I
tried to leave and come back with no effect. Disconnected, not logging
off, and reconnected and the problem was gone. Probably something
refreshed the link to RDClip.exe. Fired up MEP and all was golden.
I can not say certainly but I believe this has also happened no my local machine as well. It was a long time ago and my recollections are foggy. |
